Backstory
I grew up happy, loved, and cherished. The middle child of 10, I was never old enough to take care of anyone or young enough to be taken care of. My family was and is unreasonably happy, supportive, and helpful. I did my best to take up the family mining business, but I often wandered and found a passion for music.
My family didn’t mind and helped me find my dream. Although no tutors could be found in our village, the local tavern always had a traveling minstrel and troubadour, storytellers from faraway lands. By age 15 I had stretched my first skin over one of my father’s beer steins, and by age 30 I had designed a series of functional pony kegs that changed pitches as you drank.
By age 40 — dwarfs are a long-lived people, and this would be my late teens if I was human — I not only was learning from the musicians at the tavern, but playing with them. It was in my local pub that I met 4aDeer, and together we adventured for my lyre from the god, Milil, Lord of Song. With my lyre and drums, I decided to leave my family for the first time to find my own stories and songs.
I cried, my family cried (cue Disney music). But it was time. I have been on the road for about five months now. I have not been bothered. My easy manner and innate musical talent have kept me fed, dry, and blissfully unaware of many of life’s trials I have yet to experience.
