Backstory

I never knew my parents. As a baby I was found, abandoned, and taken to the village of Temling in the elven forest. One of the few villages where humans and elves lived together peacefully. It should have been a haven for an abandoned child. But drow blood runs strong even in half-breeds like me. And the universal hate for the drow runs stronger still. I was surrounded by distrust, distain, and prejudice. A haven it was not. I was tormented by those my own age, bossed around by adults. My own adopted family tried to limit my education, to contain my abilities and expanding mind.

As soon as I was able, I left. I wandered, my budding limited talents with magic allowed me to put on street performances. To feed myself and steal when I could not. I was on the outskirts of elven land when I saw my first true sorcerer. It was from a distance, his grey scaled skin reminded me of my own drow grey, and I followed him as if in a trance.
It hadn’t occurred to me that he was leading me somewhere. I was too young and too stubborn to think anything bad would befoul me. He entered his house, leaving the door open. I hesitated only the amount a young teenage boy would. I thanked the cursed gods that created me for my good luck. An opened door would be easy pickings.

It would be 20 years before I left that house. Twenty years I don’t care to recount. But 20 years later, I emerged. My skin scaled, my power crackled within me, and the bloody corpse of my mentor, teacher, and abuser now cooling in my past.

My control over sorcery is absolute but my power is limited by my knowledge and body. My old mentor told me stories of the Dragon Temple of Zoindinth, the elemental dragon of fire. I will find this temple, I will increase my power. And I will learn the spells that will let me lay waste to the hometown that should have protected me. I will rebuild it in my own image.
