I have emailed this to friends, strangers pretty much anyone I have ever talked to about the trip (taken in 2016). This is hands down still the best holiday we have had. Not the cheapest – not by far. And you really do need to be lucky to see the northern lights. But even if we had not, still an amazing trip.
The three bests for me:
Dog sledding
Ice Carting – we did not book in advance
Northern lights
We also loved our visit to the Wild Spirit Park just outside of Ivalo. She also does dog sledding though we didn’t know it until we had booked with another company.
Last but not least – if you are in the area and enjoy food – do not miss Laanilan Kievari outstanding, local and fresh. Unique drinks and reindeer cooked over an opened fire right in front of you. We never eat at the same place twice and we ate here twice… just saying.
